Classification and trade fair focus
CISMA 2025 took place from 24 to 27 September at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre – and this year once again demonstrated why it is one of the most important international trade fairs for cutting, sewing and manufacturing technologies.
The trade fair brings together an exceptionally diverse audience of experts: machine builders, OEMs, production managers, software providers and an increasing number of companies looking to digitise or automate their production.
For us at ProCom Automation, CISMA was the ideal opportunity to showcase the CNC300® CNC control system, the ergoCNC® user interface, the ergoCAM® work preparation system and our Clouver IIoT platform live – and to engage in direct dialogue. It is precisely this personal contact that shows us every year which topics really matter to the industry.
Live demonstrations, real-world applications, and numerous discussions
Our bilingual exhibition stand was deliberately designed so that visitors could try out the systems for themselves. Real workflows, realistic scenarios and honest discussions. It was precisely this approach that was greatly appreciated by visitors.
Among other things, the following were on display:
- Operation and navigation in ergoCNC®
- Changing cutting patterns
Parameterisation and process adjustments - Automatic and manual nesting in ergoCAM®
- Monitoring, production control and live data analysis with Clouver

International impressions – and what visitors were interested in
CISMA has a strong international flavour – and this is evident in every conversation.
Two groups were particularly in focus this year:
Chinese visitors
Interest in fast, precise cutting processes, high cutting quality and intuitive usability.
Indian delegations
Many visitors from the sewing and textile sector – with a strong focus on digital workflows and production monitoring via IIoT platforms such as Clouver.
Our bilingual presentation enabled us to provide both groups with in-depth technical insights.

Technical focus areas – the most frequently asked questions
-
How stable are processes at high speeds?
-
How precise is the knife guidance for contours?
-
How easy is it to learn the user interface?
-
How much material can be saved with automatic nesting?
-
How can real-time data be used as a basis for decision-making?
-
What interfaces are available for integration into existing systems?
These are typical topics that are discussed in a particularly practical manner at the exhibition, especially for visitors who are considering whether a visit to CISMA is worthwhile.
Trends at CISMA 2025 – what caught our eye
The trade fair clearly showed where the industry is heading:
- Automated cutting processes are becoming increasingly important.
- Digital workflows are increasingly becoming standard.
- IIoT is becoming increasingly relevant in Asia, especially India.
- There is explicit demand for multilingual, intuitive HMIs.
- Automatic nesting and reproducible cutting sequences are becoming established.
- Real-time transparency is becoming a competitive factor for production managers.
For visitors who use trade fairs for further training or decision-making: CISMA shows what is state of the art internationally – and where the next few years are heading.
Personal impressions
Communication & collaboration
The combination of English and Chinese documents made communication much easier. Our Chinese team was also a great help when it came to details, technical terms and cultural nuances.
Giveaways & cultural peculiarities
- Dark chocolate is not very popular in China. That’s why we only brought milk chocolate Lindor balls –
a real hit. - Swiss Army knives were particularly well received.
- Food plays an important role at Chinese trade fairs – often the best time for relaxed, professional conversations.
Regulatory experience
Lighters may not be distributed at Chinese trade fairs.
We know this from previous years – and have been planning accordingly ever since.
Stand design
The clear graphic elements, modern panels and visible ‘Germany’ label were perceived as a sign of quality. Nevertheless, it was clear that live demonstrations and direct conversations are what really count.
